Since 2006, Tenstreet’s Xchange network has processed employment verifications for free for tens of thousands of carriers and is powered by more than 75,000 requestors, 100,000 public providers, and 8,000 network providers today. The network gives carriers the ability to verify requests by phone, email, fax, and more – all from one digital interface.
Our goal has always been to maintain this paperless solution to streamline and automate the employment verification process through a network where all carriers can join, request, and provide at no charge.
A Changing Employment Verification Landscape
Over the last couple of years, several carriers began charging for a faster turnaround, which resulted in delayed requests from carriers who didn’t want to pay, sometimes by weeks. Requests were no longer handled on a first-come first-served basis, and this disruption had the potential to create hiring bottlenecks, affect drivers’ ability to change jobs, and effectively prevent carriers from operating at peak performance.
Despite our efforts to provide incentives to keep the network free of charge, as more carriers started being hit by these administrative costs, the reaction was to charge as well. This required carriers to then move to other platforms that had a charging capability, which threatened to erode the one-stop value of the Xchange network.
The Future of Xchange
To acknowledge the market’s shift and preserve the largest, most convenient employment verification network in the trucking industry, we’re introducing a way for Xchange providers to charge for employment verifications.
We still believe that offering verifications for free is better for the industry, and we will continue to make that possible for those who choose not to charge, but we won’t stand in the way of companies that feel the need to charge. We’ve added functionality that keeps the price down and still preserves the no-charge option where carriers see fit.
Alongside this addition of a charging capability, we are continuing to invest in and enhance the usability of the Xchange network. At our User Conference in May, we rolled out these new features:
- An updated Xchange Summary Tool, which helps carriers better reconcile VOEs with application data and adds automation to decrease effort
- A Potential Missing Employers feature that suggests possible employment gaps on a driver’s resumé
- Access to a Tenstreet-maintained trusted requestor list that verifies legitimate carriers and lets you automatically respond to those requestors
We will always be thinking about new ways to revolutionize employment verifications and working to make Xchange a powerful resource for you.
